How shops work
Everything on GoplexMC is bought and sold at sign-shops — a sign next to a chest that any player can trade with. This page shows you how to buy, how to build your own, and how the new Barter and Toll signs work.
Buying from a shop
Find a shop in the world, or browse every open shop on this directory first so you don't travel to one that's out of stock. Then, at the sign:
- Right-click the sign. It tells you the item and the price — including any tax — but takes nothing yet.
- Right-click again within 10 seconds to confirm. The items go into your bag and the money leaves your wallet. After that first confirm, repeat purchases here go through on a single click for a while.
Selling to a shop
Some shops also buy items from you (their sign shows a sell price too). To sell:
- Punch the sign Left-click — it quotes what you'll get.
- Punch again within 10 seconds to confirm. Your items go into the shop's chest and you're paid.
Make your own shop
- Place a chest and stock it with what you're selling.
- Lock the chest. Type
/lprivatethen click the chest (2k6Lock). Only you can open it, and only you can take the shop down. - Put a sign right next to (or within a block of) the chest.
- Write four lines and the shop springs to life. Leave line 1 (the owner) blank — it fills in your name automatically.
What each line means
| Line | What to write | Example |
|---|---|---|
| 1 — Owner | Leave blank (auto-fills your name) | (blank) |
| 2 — Item | How many, then the item (name or id) | 64 Cobblestone |
| 3 — Currency | A currency code on this server | GMC, USD |
| 4 — Price | Buy price. Add : sell to also buy from players | 10 or 50 : 40 |
- Use a colon on the price line to trade both ways:
50 : 40= buy for 50, sell for 40. Leave the left side blank (: 40) for a sell-only shop. - Items with a data value use a colon:
1 Wool:11(blue wool). You can also use the numeric id:35:11 - 1. - The shop lists itself on this directory automatically once it's inside a nation.
Barter signs item for item
A barter trades items for items — no money, and never taxed. Put the word
BARTER on the currency line:
- Line 2 = what the player receives (comes out of your chest).
- Line 4 = what the player pays in (goes into your chest).
- Players Right-click to barter.
- Needs a locked chest that holds the goods and has room to take the payment — a full chest refuses the trade.
Toll & pulse signs new
A toll (or pulse) sign takes money and fires a 1-second redstone
pulse — exactly like pressing a button. Use it for pay-to-open gates, dispensers, gambling contraptions
and more. Put TOLL (or PULSE) on the item line:
- Paying presses the block the sign is mounted on — the wall behind a wall-sign, or the block under a standing sign — powering it for 1 second, just like a button on it.
- You place nothing. Just wire your door / piston / dispenser to that block.
- If no redstone is wired to that block, the player is not charged — no paying for a dead gate. Leave one free block beside the wall so the press has room to fire.
How it fires
Managing & removing a shop
- Take it down: break the sign twice within 5 seconds. (A single punch just sells to it, so this stops accidental removals.)
- Protected: only you (or an admin) can break your shop sign, and nobody can knock it loose by mining the block behind or beneath it.
- Check your own shop by right-clicking it — you'll see its prices, and it re-lists on the directory.
- Business shops pay to and from a business account instead of your wallet; admin shops have infinite stock. Both work the same way to trade with.
